The visual stimulation is definitely there. This translates to a more casual menu (entirely gluten-free) that focuses on temaki hand rolls reimagined as tacosas well as a more casual atmosphere. The focus is on Temaki, or open-style hand rolls were you can see each ingredient. Nami Nori is the trio’s attempt to be more inclusive without sacrificing quality (at Masa, the only 3-Michelin-star sushi restaurant in the country, omakase costs 595 per person). But this isn’t your average sushi restaurant. On hand to enjoy the offerings were City Harvest CEO Jilly Stephens, Geoffrey Zakarian, a City Harvest board member and chair of its Food Council, Melba Wilson, Katie Couric, Susie Essman, Simon Kim, and more. When Nami Nori arrived to the West Village back in 2019, lovers of nigiris and temaki flocked to see the most beautiful sushi hand rolls. More than 50 New York City chefs were on hand for the evening, which included entertainment from On the Move, a live auction, and tastings from restaurants including COTE Korean Steakhouse, Koloman, Nami Nori, Rezdôra, and Zou Zou's. On October 18, more than 1,000 guests flocked to The Glasshouse in Manhattan for BID, the tasting event held by City Harvest, New York’s largest food rescue organization. ![]()
